POST/PROTO #1
Antonio Fernández–Alvira

Antonio Fernández Alvira (Huesca, 1979) presents in PRESENTE a translation of his previous work Elements for a Discourse (2018), first exhibited in 2019 as part of a sculptural-installation ensemble. The piece consists of a large metal frame alongside a series of pieces made of a material that we interpret as stone. The pieces above and below the structure appear to be parts of a larger whole, visible as a metallic ellipse. At first glance, the piece evokes the archaeological technique of anastylosis, a form of restoration that uses, as far as possible, exclusively the original material for the reconstruction of the piece, leaving the void of what was not found or replacing it with structures of another material.
